A virtual pet for your child: what to look out for
A virtual pet teaches routine and brings a lot of joy, but an app for children has to meet a few conditions. Here is what to look at and how we handle it in YourPet.

1. Can my child meet strangers?
YourPet has no chat and no messages between users. The mini-games are single-player - your child plays with their own pet.
2. Can money be spent by accident?
In-game coins are earned only by playing and cannot be exchanged for money. Paid items are bought with Paws, and an adult confirms every purchase. There are no loot boxes and no gambling - you always know what you are buying.
3. Who creates the account?
The account is created by an adult, and the child uses YourPet on the parent’s account, with their knowledge. The account and data can be deleted at any time - details in the Parent zone.
4. What does caring for a pet teach?
The pet has health, energy and happiness, which drop when nobody looks after it. Daily feeding, walks, play and sleep are a simple exercise in routine. The panel also has educational games where a narrator reads the questions aloud.
5. How to set house rules?
- Agree on a fixed time for pet care, for example after school.
- Play the first mini-games together so your child knows where everything is.
- Talk about real animals: what a dog or a cat needs, and what a virtual pet needs.
